This time, we're tackling a unique challenge: writing 1000 highly personalized emails in just ten minutes. Crazy, right? Well, that's the point. I wanted to show how you can leverage Clay to boost your productivity exponentially. Let's dive in!
Setting the Stage for the Challenge
The goal is simple: write personalized emails at a scale that seems impossible manually. The clock only stops when integrations are loading, because, let's face it, that's more of a Wi-Fi issue than a skill issue. The rest of the time, the clock is ticking!
Finding Work Emails
We start by diving into LinkedIn to find potential contacts. I targeted managers in New York City, aiming for a large pool of prospects. With 5000 companies on our list, we filtered those without a company domain and began the process of enriching our data.
Using a waterfall approach, I maximized data coverage by utilizing as many providers as possible to find work emails. This is crucial as it ensures we have valid email addresses to work with. After some time, we had a solid batch of emails ready to go.
Adding More Emails
Realizing we needed more contacts, I quickly set up another table, this time targeting managers in Philadelphia. After some filtering and another round of email enrichment, we finally hit our target: 1006 valid email contacts.
With the emails in place, the next step was enriching the individuals associated with these emails. By linking their LinkedIn profiles, I gathered more detailed information about their companies.
Structuring the Email Campaign
With all the data enriched, it was time to craft the emails. Using OpenAI's ChatGPT, I generated creative organic marketing ideas tailored to each company. The task was to generate a bulleted list of suggestions for each prospect, formatted neatly for easy reading.
Having generated the content, I downloaded the enriched data and moved to the email campaign setup. In Instantly, I created a new campaign, importing the contact list and crafting a personalized email template. Each email contained the recipient's name, company, and a set of tailored marketing ideas.
The final step was to ensure everything was in place: a catchy subject line, personalized introduction, and the AI-generated content. I also made sure to include a call to action, prompting a conversation about potential collaboration.
Reflections on the Process
As I wrapped up, I couldn't help but marvel at the efficiency of Clay's automation systems. A task that would take days, if not weeks, manually was completed in ten minutes. It's a testament to the power of automation and AI in modern prospecting.
